アメリカは簡単に言うとリア充vsオタクみたいなスクールカーストがあって基本的にはどっちかに分類される
カートが活躍する前の80年代のアメリカはMTV全盛期でマイケルジャクソンに代表されるポップスとモトリー・クルーなどの派手な衣装のLAメタルが音楽シーンの代表だったからリア充側はそっちを聴く傾向が強かった
Nirvanaはパンクの影響が強くてそっちは完全にマイナーでアングラな音楽でそういうのを好むのはオタク的だったんだよ
80年代後半にMetallicaとGuns N’ Rosesが急激に人気出てきて音楽シーンがアングラ寄りになったからリア充側の音楽もそっち側へシフトして行ったからグランジ流行当時の90年代前半にはオタクっぽくはないんだよ
